Welcome to Morganti Writes – Charlotte Morganti’s two cents on writing. The good, the bad and the absurdities that keep it interesting.
I know what you’re saying – what can you possibly find here that isn’t covered by thousands of other blogs?
Well, let me say you’ll have the benefit of my hindsight. You can interpret hindsight as things I’ve learned on my writing journey, or simply as a reference to age (and if the latter, I’m not about to tell you how many years of hindsight so you can do the math – no, don’t even ask).
As for specifics: look for posts on the craft and the pursuit of publication. For example, writing techniques and tips I’ve gleaned in classrooms and at writers’ conferences; ways to develop and polish your writing; and the bizarre things that seem to happen along the way.
Look for a book review or two here as well – of writing resources and of fiction. My fiction reviews will lean heavily towards crime novels and mysteries, a genre to which I’m addicted, both as a reader and a writer. And what writing blog would be complete without impressions of conferences, retreats and other writers’ gatherings? Exactly.
A few grittier topics, such as the scurrilous massacre of English, will be handled by Beryl Cuda, a regular contributor to the blog.
A head’s up to all my American friends and colleagues — you know I’m Canadian, right? So I add a “u” to words like humour, and “er” becomes “re” at the end of certain words. Please don’t allow it to colour your impressions….
